Sonny Landreth
The Levitt Shell
July 5, 2013
Memphis, TN USA

Lineage: AM-1's>Church Audio ST-20B>NJB3>Audacity(levels)>CDWave(tracking)>FLAC

Location: 50 ft., just right of center

Notes: This was my first opportunity to see Sonny and I was not sure what to expect. I had seen the Crossroads Guitar Fest DVD's and heard some of his blues but that's about it. The day appeared promising but about two hours before the show the sky opened up with torrential rain. Even though the rain stopped and the temps cooled this affected the crowd. We had about 3,000 that made it. If you have never been to the Levitt Shell (formerly known as the Overton Park Shell) you should try. It is AWESOME. Google it for info.

Sonny played a mostly instrumental show and that makes it hard for me to ID the songs. He intro'ed some but most are a question mark to me. The recording is of excellent quality for an audience recording, the crowd was quiet during the music, and the acoustics of the Shell are excellent. Samples are provided for your judgement. Sonny reminds me of Joe Satriani but with a cajun flair. I think they have recorded together in the past.

I hope you enjoy.
