After my recording of the Eberhard Weber show appeared here, I figured I'd re-post this oldie but goody from the same location a few months later.

We booked Sonny, who was playing in support of his 1979 Milestone LP, "Don't Ask". He only played a few local gigs not too far from his upstate NY home.

Also on the bill that night was free jazz saxophonist Arthur Doyle, who moved to Binghamton for a few years in the late 70s.

There was some drama over this, due to Sonny not wanting any opening act, so we ended up having Sonny play first and Doyle performed after Sonny was finished.

Sonny is STILL the most important LIVING tenor man in jazz and I'm pleased to have an audio document of what he sounded like over 42 years ago!
