Squeeze
The Paradise Rock Club (at this time it was called "Paradise Theater",
but it has never been anything remotely approaching a theater venue.
even the staff there often called it the Paradise club
well before they changed the name officially.)
Boston, Mass. U.S.A.
March 29, 1980
(2nd show)
performance quality: A- (alot better than I remember when it happened)
recording quality: A- (a few minor flaws, mostly very nice)
source: master FM broadcast tape
runtime: 68:43
lineage: WCOZ FM radio > Sansui 8 reciever > unknown tape deck >
(considering the time, it may have been a Sony 158, dolby off)
TDK-SA master cassette > played on Naka. into soundforge 4.5 (WAV) > FLAC 6 > torrentially yours.
Because this is a 3- and- 3 step torrent, (minimum analog-source lineage)
that TDK-SA master cassette is the only analog in this lineage,
and there is no CD or DAT involved.

comments:
My apologies for the initial post of this being banned due to forgetting to put FLAC's
1-9 without zeroes before them. Alas, where would our world be without zeroes? Squeezed.
Not this kind either. This is the kind of squeeze that feels and sounds nice. So I've zeroed
in and fixed this to share on dime, suspecting it will be a fairly big hit (again). I initially
posted it with a couple of songs from Sat. Night Live, apparently not released at that time
but I think that's changed, this time I left them out. better to be safe than banned for ORC.
the 1st time this was posted with a very paltry setlist (if that). This time it's posted with
a full and corrected setlist (and samples, another key ingredient missing in the first post).
The titles have been added otherwise the FLAC files here are the same as in the original post.
that "zeroes" business gives it away that this was one of my early 2008 posts before falling
off the tracker several months ago.
This was a live (not recorded) broadcast before an enthusiastic crowd, and a recording I
haven't listened to in years- until I heard a nice torrent here on dime, by Squeeze from
Boston 1982, and I thought, wait a second, I bet that's the one I have and I know I have
more than 45 minutes of it. So I pulled it out, and, nope, it's a different concert
completely, and a couple of years earlier. This one comes from when Pulling Mussels...
was a current hit, and so was take me I'm yours. Lots of vintage Squeeze hits in this show,
I didn't realize they had so many good songs this early. A couple of people had asked me for
this (before CD days) and I couldn't find it, and later when I did I almost gave the master
away (to one of those people who really likes Squeeze alot) because Squeeze never really did
much for me around the time this show happened. I'm glad he didn't let me do that.
This is almost a full second show, just the first few seconds of track 12 is missing for a tape
flip (track 11 is complete). .
Difford and Tillbrook's style was already very distinctive, especially the singing.
A good get-up-and-dance set, the band is sounding very good and you can hear it well
as the recording is clear reception, only a couple of slight tape dropouts, none significant
enough to deter from the pleasure of the earliest Squeeze concert I've ever heard, and it's
a nice one. Reminded me how good their vocal harmonies are, very good all through this set.
I thought this was just barely an hour, but it's also longer than I had remembered it.
do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.
Never put the "squeeze" on your fidelity
just to save a quarter dollar.
