Squeeze
"No Milk and Sugar"
Spot The Difference Tour
Gibson Amphitheater - Los Angeles
July 28th, 2010

**Contrast Clause: This is an alternate source to JB's excellent recording found here:

http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=315099

This version was recorded six rows behind the sbd (further back), dead center aisle using Slave Sound omnis and an R-09.
Glenn's vocals are a bit more prominent with the instrumentation a bit lower in the mix. Also, this version
has been re-mastered to approximate the soundboard EQ visualization that was displayed and recorded by my cellphone
video camera. I hope you enjoy it.

Personnel:

Glenn Tillbrook: Vox, Guitar
Chris Difford: Vox, Guitar
John Bentley: Bass
Stephen 'Lord' Large: Keyboards, Piano, Organ, Synthesizer, i-Pad
Simon Hanson: Drums

Notes:

It was nice to see these guys after a ten year hiatus. Difford and Tillbrook are truly the Lennon and McCartney of my generation. They
wrote/write? perfectly crafted three and a half minute pop tunes. Difford's clever wordplay and Tillbrook's keen sense of melody have oft
been overlooked in the canon of popular music, especially in the States. The performance here was "spot" on as these guys (including a
couple of new recruits) haven't missed a beat since I saw them in 1993 during the Some Fantastic Place Tour. Renditions were very tight
and faithful to the originals while remaining fresh and inventive. Very few "hits" were missed and a couple of surprises were played
including "Hope Fell Down" from the (Non)Squeeze album "Difford and Tillbrook."

Recording:

Settings were dialed on this one. I was positioned dead center six rows behind the soundboard thanks to my sister-in-law. I had to do the
"stand-up sitdown shuffle" throughout the show due to the older crowd contingent and the pace of the set. Still, I don't think the sound
quality suffers from this change of field, because the L/R axis never changed that much. I had the unique opportunity to video the sbd EQ
visualization. I used this as a reference to master the audio on this recording, lending further creedence to my assertion that your mics
never truly pick up what your ears "hear".
No phasing on this one. Quite a bit of bass to attenuate on this one, though. Fortunately I was seated well in front of the balcony overhang
bass trap.

Enjoy.

Peace,
