This was just one of those nights when everything that could happen did happen. First of all - I had kept my Zoom on ever since I changed batteries in the afternoon, when I arrived at the venue and checked I saw there was almost no battery left. I had to leave it to chance but actually did manage to capture almost the complete concert, only missing the encore. I did however pause between a couple of songs just in case, so as not to lose what I had. There are a couple of cuts in the between song banter because of this, and the trackmark is off on a couple of songs but no music is missing.

When I arrived at the venue as luck would have it I had purchased a seat in the front row without knowing so, I sat just below Stanley for the duration of the evening. I was in awe. This also meant that I had nobody between me and the sound, so the recording turned out very nice, crisp and clear.

The band was good, I love Stanley and have seen him many times in different incarnations, but this was my first time seeing George Duke, and what a first time it was! The gig was marred by some technical difficulties though, you will hear some strange noises in one of the last songs which they joked around about afterwards, trying to locate from whence it came. Technical issues aside, they all seemed to have a great time. The drummer seemed a little too keen at times, and Stanley gave him some pointers and looks so as to keep him on the right track, I liked him but he needs some more mileage methinks.

A very nice evening, the band played an encore which I sadly did not manage to capture - the whole band returned on stage but Stanley gave his technichian a glance and pointed to the acoustic bass, and the song we got was a mellow thing with only Stanley and George, I recognised it at the time but couldnt name it and now I really dont remember which song it was. They have done "Stella by starlight" at some gigs but I dont know if this was it, if so it was a different version than what I have ever heard. If anyone knows which song it was please tell us all.

I hope and trust you will all enjoy this relaxed gig. George Duke and Stanley GOD Clarke together. Wow. Just wow.

setlist:
1. Wild dog
2. Silly putty
3. Brazilian love affair

QUESTION: What on earth is George doing after No rhyme? Talking in a modified spacevoice about Funk? Is that some sort of homage to Parliament?

ENJOY!!!
