~*~ Mk2 version, carefully remastered fixing various issues, with differential EQ & lite NR ~*~

Main set (conclusion) :::
01-[06:04]. Just Like You Used To Do(?)

Encore :::
02-[04:41]. Junior's Wailing

Total Time ::: 10:45

::: VG AUD (Mk1), VG+/+ (Mk2-much improved!). Check samples to diss, risk, or CELEBRATE.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Mk1 muffled (fixed in Mk2). #01 lesser quality than #02 (people standing in venue?).
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the Mk2 EQ & lite NR remaster. The Mk1 NO EQ or NR remaster may be found elsewhere.
::: NOTE: Tape said "1969"but Steve Jolliffe isn't heard&band has 2 guitars. It's almost certainly 1970.
::: ONE of you almost certainly has more of this recording (the start of the set) - PLEASE.
::: If anyone has more info regarding location/date/#01 song title, please let us know.
::: AFAIK, #01 is a NEWLY surfaced, seriously EXCELLENT, original Steamammer blues song!
::: MANY, MANY thanks to DIMER Krautbeard for lending out his copy of this recording for us.
::: Depending on date in '70, still touring for"Mk II"LP issued Nov'69. "Mountains"released Nov'70.

OTHER MISC Steamhammer factoids :::

Recording Information ::: unknown mono recording equipment -> master mono tape -> Krautbeard's unknown (low) generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby off.

Playback 2021-07-xx ::: unknown (low) generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby off, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (48kHz/24bit wav file) -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset (NOT to normalize volume), fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments,#01 was OK (left alone), #02 +1.835% pitch (speed) fixes with single pass per segment after frequency analysis & with CD pitch verification on #02, NO equalisation (*except 2 49/50KHz notches), lite differential equalisation applied & x2 49/50KHz notches), lite noise reduction to lower hiss] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> 48kHz/24bit flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. (NOTE: Lchan on tape had almost ZERO levels & was 80% hiss, but recording seemed to be mono anyway, so used Rchan only after remastering, tho' no cross-channel patching was helpful. Attempts in this Mk2 version to match #02 EQ to #01 failed as something changed in the recording - taper position or most likely people standing during "Junior's Wailing". Further high-end pushes I tried sounded crunchy&unenjoyable). Freed 2021-08-xx.

Line-up (Steamhammer MkVII) ::: Kieran Raymond White (†R.I.P. 1995†) - vocals, electric guitar // Martin John Pugh - electric guitar // Steve Davy - electric bass, backing vocals // Mick Bradley (†R.I.P. 1972†) - drums).

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline. (NOTE: #01 UNISSUED song. #02 NOT the only"live"official Beat Club version).

DimeTravel 847 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! Thanks to DIMER Krautbeard for sharing the goods! Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This was a GREAT surprise - at first the tape seemed somewhat unlistenable - muffled & one channel non-existent except for hiss, then at least interesting as I didn't recognise the first song, then once it was digitized, cleaned up, & EQ'd, positively excellent! The "Junior's Wailing" is lesser quality & nothing to write home about with fairly standard delivery, BUT... the blues song is smoking - QUITE nice quality, fascinating, cool sorta trad-sounding blues that segues into some heavy, extremely tasty, psychedelic guitar. It's a weird set closer&a reminder of how little we really know about the band... but we're learning. "Just Like You Used To Do" seems the most likely title from the lyrics after a number of listens. Not a blues song that I recognise as such (nor could find online), tho' I could well be wrong (many's the time!) & maybe someone will recognise it right away. Kieran had the ultimate blues voice, but of course, Steamhammer's sound rarely stayed in that zone for long, so, in fact, I find this pretty refreshing - and likely more like something from their blues roots from the unheard '68 era. Hopefully someday we crack some UK Steamhammer vaults & get to hear some more early material. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees

Support the artists and/or their families! Still a number of CDs & LPs around & an upcoming CD box set as noted above. Nothing to buy, but check Martin Pugh's (again up&running) site at www.steamhammer.com

Do whatever you want with it except sell it, 'cause that ain't cool!
