This is from a tour after Sails of Silver, but before Back in Line. In general, I think that the concert is in good form, despite fans at the time and/or historians declaring this a less favorable time period for the band. Ultimately, the test for a band is the concert, and Steeleye Span does well here. There is a nice variety in song selection in all manners. As far as the recording, I don't know the machine or the microphone used. I borrowed them from a friend. For some reason the machine itself was very noisy (you WILL here the clicking sound during spoken introductions, and occasionally during very quiet musical portions. Also, as I often used to edit my20masters for more convenient listening and get rid of the master, all I have here is the 1st generation rerecording (the lowest available anywhere). On the second side of the cassette, it seems that there is an edit between most songs. I don't know what my thought process was 24 years ago: maybe to minimize quiet downtime, especially with the clicking sound, maybe simply to make sure the whole concert fit on a C-90. I do know that my interest always would have been to keep song introductions and banter in. Therefore, it is not clear here where the encore break is. All that said, I think that this is a very enjoyable recording to listen to still.
