Surprised to see that nothing currently seems to be on DIME from the fabulous Steps Ahead. This show has seemingly been up here before. Not sure when. I'd seeded some Don Grolnick shows a while a back, and since this was from a similar era and circle of players, thought I'd give it a go. My version of this might feture more tracks than earlier versions because some of the announcements and audience sections have been split to separate (short) tracks. Not sure if this was the case with possible earlier seeds of this show.
Steps Ahead morphed into more of a fusion band through the mid 80's and beyond featuring the likes of Mike Stern and Chuck Loeb in the guitar chair. This pre-dates that and relies on material from the Modern Times album, although Eddie Gomez is here replaced by Tom Kennedy. This is a great sounding show for 1984, and you can't beat the personnel for terrific playing and soloing.
Thanks to the original taper, seeder(s), fixer(s), and the person who traded this to me. Please support all of these great artists by purchasing their commercially available releases.
