I've shared a handful of Steve Forbert masters in the past.

But this one is the oldest recording I've offered for the first time anywhere.

When Rich sent me this DAT, I knew I had something really special.

Going all the way back to the Japan 1980 tour. I never knew Steve played Japan back then.

Nobody has ever heard this and it's a Good One !!

During the solo acoustic tracks, the sound quality is very nice and clear.

During the songs with the band playing at full volume it's still very good,

but you'll notice the mic is being pushed a bit harder.

The levels on the master tape were never brickwalled and still had plenty of head room.

It appears that the taper got a late start and this tape is missing the first couple songs.

I know that a 120 minute tape was used for the master, noted by the tape flip during track 17.

Steve plays "You're Darn Right" which was an unreleased song at the time.

I've included a photo of the DAT copy and microphone used to record this show.

You guys know that I mostly offer only the best and rare "first time" recordings.

This is another one that all Steve Forbert fans "Must Have" in their collections.
