Notes:
My second time seeing the SMB. The setlist was pretty similar to the
2017 show I saw, but there were a couple songs switched out. Back in
2017, I remember being really upset he did not play "Jungle Love", so
this show more than made up for it. "True Fine Love" is another favorite
of mine he did not play in 2017 and it was one of the highlights here.
The crowd were mostly 55+, and during the music they were attentive, but
between songs there was a ton of whistling. I did the best I could in post
removing those whistles and yells with iZotope RX7. When Steve spoke, he
was very quiet, so I did boost the levels during those sections. The PA
was much lower than what Im used to with an outdoor concert, so the crowd
noise was a little bit more intrusive normal. Overall, I thought it turned
out pretty nice. It was over 90 at showtime, which Steve makes a mention
of a couple times. I had sweat pouring down my back for most of the show.
Because he walked out at 730 and finished up before 9, the entire show was
performed in daylight. It was weird to walk back to the car after a concert
with the sun still up. Definitely no light show here. Steve is turning 80
this year, so I recommend going to see him soon if you have yet to do so.
These rock 'n roll legends wont be around forever. Cherish every performance.
