Steve Tibbetts 1987.12.19 with Marc Anderson And Bob Hughes
Live at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis,MN USA from FM master cassette...

This was a two night series at the premiere art-music venue in Minneapolis, the Walker Art Center...This was connected to the old Guthrie Theatre, before
the old Guthrie was demolished...Guitar wizard Steve Tibbetts with his percussion-master sideman Marc Anderson and bassist Bob Hughes, playing a mind-warping show of guitar pyrotechnics and masterful percussion...

This is a near-complete catch of an FM broadcast from KFAI Minneapolis, taped a few days after the shows had taken place...I attended the first night, and this was the second...I was obviously thrilled to catch it off the radio, since it was before we owned any discreet taping gear...! This is not the entire show, but it is most of it...I think I missed just the intro of the broadcast...

Steve Tibbetts is a fantastically talented player, and a quick wit with an odd sense of humor...He introduces the first bit on this recording by a fake joke song title and fake record label name, as you will hear... Great fun and crazy-good music that defies categorizing...Psychedelic world music?? Cosmic-jazz-fusion-space-rock, or whatever you want to call it, it is simply awesome. Sadly Mr. Tibbetts seems to be a bit of a recluse, not playing out very often...We have seen him just a handful of times over the 25+ years or so of being fans of his music...Which is why this is such a treasure...Enjoy!!

01. track one 06:37 ( correct title "name everything" )
02. track two 21:40
03. track three 10:38
04. track four 08:56
05. track five 07:12
06. track six 06:19 (marc plays the "mystical,trance-inducing"berimbau!")

Steve Tibbetts has several albums, most are excellent...Especially trippy are the first two, the self-titled one and "Yr"...Real mind melters...Get them!!
Marc Anderson is a sought-after sideman and music educator, one of the finest percussionists in the world, really...A master of African music and instruments, he can play anything at all...I love to see him rock out on weird little bells and clay vases, steel drums, congas, a trap set or the one-stringed berimbau, played with a stick and a carved rock!...a real treat to see, a musical genius...He has a wonderful solo CD, "Timefish", well worth seeking out! Also a founding member of EightHEad, a GREAT GREAT band!!
Bob Hughes...hmmm don't know anymore about him...have not seen him around...
I wish I could tell you more about him...

Regarding the recording, it was from a weak-signalled FM station and a few FM crackles are heard from time to time...I don't think they do much damage...
If someone has a cleaner copy, let's hear it!! Or, obviously, any other Steve Tibbetts recordings!

Share freely, NEVER SELL!!! BAD KARMA!!
