Stevie Vaughan & Double Trouble - "In 1978 There Was..." (SRV's lost first album)
Featuring Miss Lou Ann Barton.
"The Legendary Lost First Stevie Ray Vaughan Album"
Goody Pitch-Corrected Edition
"The one and only surviving test pressing was recently discovered in a cupboard in South Austin, Texas where it had lain for the last 19 years, all other recordings of the project have been destroyed after alleged contractual disputes arose. These recording, notable for their raw energy and rare slide guitar work are essential for all true collectors. Also featuring four early arrangements of songs that later appeared on the Texas Flood album.
Due to the brevity of the Nashville '78 session the producers have added a live soundboard recording featuring Lou Ann Barton and three tracks featuring Johnni Reno on saxophone."
Notes: The above paragraph is the supposed story behind this recording as told on the cd inlay. The real story is that the band didn't like the way the album turned out and paid a large sum of money to keep it from being released. As you would expect, someone got their hands on a copy and bootlegged it.

Goody's additional lineage and comments:
dBpoweramp (WAV) > Cool Edit Pro (Pitch Bender - Tracks 11-17 +90 cents, Tracks 18-20 +73 cents) > Traders Little Helper (FLAC Level 8; Align Sector Boundaries; .ffp) > foobar2000 (Re-tag tracks 03 & 04 to correct incorrect titles, Tag all remaining tracks)
Please note that the 'skipping', beginning at 2:05, til the very end of Track 20, cannot be fixed, but it's easily excusable under the circumstances. I think y'all will agree... And isn't it about time this collection got a real retread? Hope I did it justice.
Those of you reading this and listening to this set for the very first time have no idea how ridiculous it sounded in its former state, with half of it running extreeeeemly slow. Those of you who've already heard tracks 11-20 in a previous edition already know there was something wrong here but you just didn't know what it was, did you... A much younger Stevie and Lou Ann sounding strangely 40 years older, as the slowed-down, incorrect playback speed of the 2nd half of this disc made their voices sound so much deeper and slower.
All of that's now been corrected and brought back for this edition; (as close as I could get it;) to whatever folks got to hear when this all first went down, over 30 years ago. It's an amazing set, even though light years away from the brilliance that surpassed it. I'd like to thank everyone along the way who served to get it into my hands, leading to this new upgrade. Note that at the time, Stevie was not even using all 3 names (even though the artwork provided, which has circulated with this set for some time, included them, and it's all there in the title of the boot from which this is sourced.) I know there were reasons at the time for this material to be held back and not see the light of day. So glad to have the privilege of being able to hear it, though. Especially, knowing what was to come...
