Notes: This date is correct! I was there, I recorded it! For years the Nov. 24, 1984 date has been mistakingly attributed to Davis, California, but SRV played Davis Nov. 28. SRV played two shows in San Francisco at the Warfield Theater, this one and the next night. That second night is more common in trading circles, this one a bit rarer, maybe over the fact of the confused date. Where to start? Almost 24 years ago, SRV was breaking big at this point, on top of his game. The crowd is totally into it as you will hear as a confederate flag was draped from inside the theater (believe me an odd fit for SF!) I was blown away by Stevie, his tone was amazing this night. Lenny is chilling. My regular Sony recorded crapped out before this gig, so I had to borrow an Aiwa...I think my Sony would have produced a better recording...the sound here is a bit odd, SRV guitar loud on one channel with almost no bass, and the other has more bass, with SRV harder to hear, kinda a nice stereo effect (the Aiwa had a stereo mic). That said, this is a rough recording, but a piece of history. I did record the next night as well and can torrent it as well if anyone has an interest.
