Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble
The Orpheum Theatre, Boston Massachusetts
November 23, 1986

2nd solo gig, 2nd show of “Live Alive Tour.”

1st gen cassette (master probably Sony d-6 w/ unknown mics)>Creative>CDR>EAC>FLAC

New transfer for this torrent. CDR step only there because I have to use one computer for torrents and another for transfers

Sound quality: VG to VG+ for SRV shows. Pert darn good. Varies some from taper position, a tad distant. Samples provided. Recommended for any comprehensive SRV collection as a great post-rehab 'early' show.

Stevie Ray was often somewhat tentative upon his return to the stage following rehab. Many 1987 shows are fun, but Stevie isn’t always 100%. This show, the night after his first sober gig (not counting sitting in w/ Bonnie Raitt for a tune) was NOT one of those nights.

Stevie is on fire during this show, barely pausing between songs and holding nothing back. He would gain intensity over the next couple of years, but he left it all on the stage tonight! Of the two Boston shows, I think this one is the better performance.

Note: I THINK this was recorded by our own Jcombra, and his copy probably doesn’t have a second or two missing at the first of Voodoo, but he had a bad habit of using an auto reverse deck to dub, and tapes are not exactly the same length, hence a cut in mine.

Setlist – This recording is incomplete. Stevie probably played “Come On pt III” or something else to end the show, but you never really know unless someone was there…

There is also a second source with "Testify" that is noted in Wilmot's database. The notes indicate the taper was thrown out and there are two more songs. I do not think this is the same source.
