Comments:
Very nice audience recording of SRV's late show at The Ritz on New Year's Eve 1989/90. I have no idea if this is in general circulation or not; I got this directly from the taper in late 1991. Heartbreakingly, the last encore -- "Don't Lose Your Cool" -- is cut a minute or two before the end. I don't know if this cut is on the master, but I suspect it's not -- my cassette runs out just after the music cuts. (Bummer that I haven't been in touch with the taper since 1992.)

In any case, I *think* this was taped on an early Sony D-3 DAT. The taper had done a number of 1990 shows on DAT, so I think this used the same equipment.

The performance is fun and loose, and Stevie's in a great mood. The recording is pretty solid with minimal crowd noise (considering that it was recorded late on New Year's Eve); I boosted the high end a little to bring up the vocals and guitar. Really solid tape; I wish the last couple of minutes were on there.
