One track, "Willie The Wimp," is from an alternate source (unknown) that was put onto the cassette mine was dubbed from by the taper.

Sound a solid B/B+ - really good when it counts, samples provided.

I was looking around for a quality SRV show to share and I came across this underappreciated beauty. Honestly, 1987 shows can be hit and miss for me. Not the most exciting tours in some ways. But, when they are good, '87 shows can be very good.
I chose this tape for 2 reasons: Decent sound with known generation of my copy, and a performance I like (as a guy who has probably listened to more than his share of SRV shows). While this may not make my all-time personal favorites list, it continues to grow on me and is certainly an above-average performance overall. This show finds Stevie in good spirits and, as it goes along, he gets in the zone. Highlights indclude "Ain't Gone 'n Give up on Love," "Mary...," "CSW," a lengthy "Life w/out You," and a really quite good reading of "Voodoo Chile (SR)." You know it was an above average 87 show if Stevie yanks out Voodoo after already playing "Come On pt.III," as he often played something else to close out the shows that year.

The overall sound is pretty good - I wish it was a bit closer or had a bit more definition, but once you get into it, it really pays off. Stevie plays very well and this 1987 show is a definite keeper.

Just FYI, this show definitely occurs in San Diego, as can be heard in the introduction.
