Stevie Wonder

The Cow Palace
San Francisco, California, USA

from cassette master except last song of show which is from a 1st gen. cassette. Recorded from the front row. The sound quality is very decent especially considering that the master deck was not especially high fidelity and the Cow Palace is a rather cavernous venue. Check the samples to get an idea of the sound quality for yourself.

lineage: Nakamichi cm300 microphones > unknown model Akai cassette recorder.
transfer: Nakamichi Dragon > Pro Tools (minor "nip and tuck" edits, normalization & tracking) > Aiff files > xACT (Flac level 8 files with sector boundaries verified).

Note: I've heard that this tour was originally scheduled to feature a co-bill with Bob Marley & The Wailers, but Gil Scott Heron was substituted as an opener because Bob Marley was too sick from the cancer which would kill him less than six months later. I was not able to record the opening set by Gil Scott Heron because of a traffic jam getting into the parking lot (as often happened at the Cow Palace).
