Strawbs : The Lostbrook Tape Series - Volume 27
For the second December in a row, the Strawbs delivered a high-energy,
dramatic performance to a wildly enthusiastic Calderone crowd. There
was a chemistry between the band and the Calderone audience as the
Strawbs created a unique concert atmosphere with powerful mellotrons,
Dave Lambert’s blistering guitar, and Dave Cousins’ poetic lyrics and
voice. I recorded this from the eighth row on the left-center aisle,
surrounded by a multitude of friends. There’s more chatter on this tape
than I care to admit, but most of it is related to the photographs being
taken by my friend Howie. Perhaps we would have been quieter if we had
known that the Strawbs wouldn’t be back for another eight years.
