The Lostbrook Strawbs Collection Volume 2


Close followers of The Lostbrook Tape series will already know that I was caught while taping the early show. I'm pretty sure I was ratted out by a waiter. Management arrived at my table, confiscated the recorder, and told me to see them after the show. I hoped to convince them to give me back the tape, but I wasn't quick enough. When I arrived to retrieve the Sanyo, they popped the cassette out of the deck, slapped it on a bulk-erase machine and returned it to me with a sarcastic "Here's your tape!" Though I was upset, I still had my wits about me. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Dave Cousins mingling in the bar area. I said I had tickets for the late show and asked if I could record with Dave's permission. They accompanied me to his side, whereupon I showed him the Sanyo and asked if I could record the next set. Dave gave his approval without any hesitation. I thanked him, gave a giant smile to Bottom Line management, and returned to my table.

The first mention of Dominic and Josephine Behan in the "Josephine" introduction. Five days later, the full story would appear in all its glory.////After "Josephine," Dave broke his guitar strap and tossed it to me. I still have it.////New details emerge in the ever-growing Susan George story.////Our first live "Benedictus," written "after a certain long blond-haired keyboard player left the band."////Dave and Brian's performance of "Blue Angel," a masterpiece with superb lyrics. A desert-isle song if ever I heard one.////John singing, "I forgot the words na na na na..." during "Burn Baby Burn."
