the two sides of the tape were spliced using audition. the tracks have been cut using cd wave
this was originally broadcast as part of wxrt's unconcert series. the taper is thrilled to share this copy and said its the one used
to record the broadcast. there is a touch of hiss, just enough to believe this is not a master. it is thus being labeled as
unverified generation. the tape was in excellent condition, to the point of looking brand new. the broadcast itself has a good mix
with nice bottom end to it. overall a great capture from a great venue. 9/10
originally built as a swedish community center in 1927, this building has gone through many names. besides being stages, it was also known
as the old lakeview theatre, and the northside auditorium building. during the summer of 1982, the current owners opened
up smart bar on the fourth floor of the building. in august of 1982, they had a chance to book the main room. over the next few months,
they began to take control and eventually reopened the club as the caberet metro, now simply called the metro. smart bar was moved
downstairs. it s a venue that is steeped in music history. smart bar pretty much spawned industrial and the metro helped give birth
to several alternative bands such as the lemonheads and smashing pumpkins. its an important place to the chicago scene and its
one of those places that generally every band plays at some point in their career. this nite was no exception.
