Studebaker John and the Hawks were the headliner for Kelowna's first attempt at a jazz and blues festival. All of the other performers were local. Mics were on a stand dead centre, in front of the soundboard, at the top of the concert bowl/hill. I was there all day and it was quite hot, but thankfully my sweet spot was also shaded by some nearby trees. The recordings I got from this day are some of the best tapes I ever got using the Sony TCM 20DV, which is a very basic voice recorder with no Dolby and auto-gain levels. I was and am happy with the results.

I left a song or two early, as not only did I run out of tape, but I had to hussle to the bus stop to get home. I would have just cycled to the show but I brought a bunch of stuff with me to keep comfortable the whole day, plus the stand and taping gear.
