notes from Earthly:
There are 190 minutes of bandstand tapes made by Avreeayl Amen Ra; they are virtually complete. The date on the tapes is January 9, and the location is merely “Sweden.” The Arkestra was not in Europe in January 1985. July 9 would place this concert during a known European tour; besides, the second tape continues with material from July 12. And a photo taken by Mike Johnston shows the Arkestra at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm — on July 9, 1985. (Probably Charles Tyler, along with Allen, Wilson, Gilmore, and Omoe, can be seen in the reed section.)
Tunes and personnel ct. “Fate in a Pleasant Mood” is cut off after 30 seconds, when Sunny changes his mind and shifts gears into “Christopher Columbus."
