T-Model Ford: guitar, vocals
Unknown stageguy: basic drumming
This was the show I was probably expecting the most this year, never seen the man live before, I think he only ever played Switzerland once before, Lucerne back in 1999.
Very slow start with lots of tuning and apparent problems with the guitar set up. I think the real reason was that T-Model was waiting to see if his drummer Spam might still take his place after he didn't feel well right before going on stage. Must have been the heat. Unfortunately Spam couldn't make it in spite of the numerous fans that were set up around his drumming equipment. He remained sitting in the vicinity but never played, thus a stage guy took his place and provided some very basic drumming accompaniment for the next thirty minutes or so.
T-Model went on to play his raw little set, and although he did not seem particularly inspired (I've heard better shows though certainly not in this sound quality) I got exactly what I expected. Such simple and yet essential moments are getting rarer in blues, another one to treasure in my memory, like, in recent years, seing Honeyboy Edwards on the night of his 84th birthday here in Bellinzona.
Hope you enjoy - next up Diunna Greenleaf
