NOTES:

Alright, this is not a recording of mine, but a couple folks reached out to me asking if I would be interested in editing/tracking and sharing this recording of theirs. I like Tangerine Dream, so sure, why not? I will say, it's interesting to see a show from Albuquerque show up, as I don't see many out there, and I just imagine there not being many shows that come through there as well as there being not very many tapers out there (but maybe I'm wrong?). I don't have much to say about Albuquerque myself, as I find it to be quite a boring town. My sister moved out there a couple years ago, and I've been there twice now for Christmas break, and yeah, I've left unimpressed both times. Sorry.

Anyway, I didn't do much to this recording other than track it, add a couple of fades, convert it to various formats, tag it and then share it of course. I will mention that Thorsten tells a story at the beginning of the show about how their bus/truck broke down on the highway on the way to the venue and they were stuck out there for 3 hours waiting on repairs. God, poor folks, stuck out in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico? Sounds fucking terrible. On a plus note for Albuquerque though, Thorsten also mentioned that there was no hard curfew in the city for shows, so theoretically they could play as long as they'd like, which I thought was rather interesting, given most places/venues do have curfews (cough, looking at you Napa, cough), so props for that. And like all the other shows, it ends with an "encore"/second set/whatever you want to refer to it as with a "session", which is all improv if you didn't know, and Thorsten notes to the audience that they typically play it in the key of D minor, but the El Rey theatre had it sounding best in the key of C (minor? he didn't say), so there's some trivia for you.

As for anything else regarding the show itself, again I wasn't there, this isn't my recording, so I can't comment on any other shenanigans that may have gone down. Those stories, if any, will be left for the taper to share some day with us, if ever. Until then, download, crank up and enjoy.

P.S. One major inspiration for taking on this project of editing/sharing this recording was the fact that "Stratosfear" was played, a song I was hoping to hear both times I saw them earlier this year (at SXSW and in Los Angeles) and both times being disappointed. Very happy to finally have a live version from a 2023 recording to share. Enjoy!
