Comments:

Note: This is a 24/44.1 file set, which for most CD burning programs will require downsampling before it can be burned to CD. A 16-bit, CD-friendly version will be posted separately. The recording is seamless; the disc breaks above are merely a suggestion.

TTB's headlining set on the "Summer Soulstice" tour, featuring lengthy opening sets by Doyle Bramhall II and Sharon Jones. Overall a very good performance as usual by TTB, although a disappointingly short 95 minutes long. The set features some good renditions of new material along with older tracks and (for me) show-stealing covers of The Beatles' "I've Got a Feeling" and Derek & The Dominoes' "Keep On Growing." My only complaint about the show was that I wanted an extra half-hour, but since there were so many bands on the bill I knew what I was in for. Anyone who enjoys TTB's mix of lengthy jams and high-energy tracks should enjoy this recording.

In terms of sound quality, I think this came out pretty well considering that I was in the front row and not getting the benefit of the overhead speakers. The mix changes somewhat during the encore (the last two tracks), because I moved a few feet to my right to get the benefit of a small speaker three feet in front of me. The first 85 minutes of the show have a nice ambient mix of stage sound, but when I moved in front of the stage speaker I actually got an overwhelming amount of sound, and the recording sounds a bit strained. I moved in part to avoid the audience members who flooded the section in front of the stage during the encore, so the tradeoff was that I drowned out some whoops and hollers but got some brickwalling instead. Overall, however, I'm happy with the recording.

Anyone who would like to remaster, de-clap, etc. this recording and repost it is welcome to do so; in the info file, please document the original source and what you did. Mp3 samples are included in the comments.

TTB is one of the best live acts today; catch them if you can.
