Tedeschi Trucks Band
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 1, 2016

I'm in the process of moving after 36 years in the same house an am not going to be able to record as much this year. I'll try to get all the major acts and some favorites I've had over the years. Again, KBOO FM is broadcasting the show live. KBOO is an all volunteer station. They started last year breaking in at odd times to let listeners know what stations are broadcasting. Weird. All proceeds from the festival go to the Oregon Food Bank so please donate if you can. They also have a live stream on the internet. It's an MP3 stream. My set up is an old Technics Quartz Tuner> H2 Zoom> SD card> computer> TLH.

Tedeschi Trucks Band

Formed in 2010 with a spirit of adventure that saw Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks shelve their equally successful solo careers, Tedeschi Trucks Band, a 12-piece tour-de-force, has quickly become the vanguard of modern roots music. Driven by Trucks, #16 of the top 100 Guitarists of All Time (Rolling Stone), and Tedeschi, blessed with a voice that passionately delivers a range of powerful R&B belters to gentle ballads, the group enlists dual drummers, two vocalists, a three-piece horn section, bass, and a multi-instrumentalist keyboard player for what is a greater-than-the-sum of-its-parts collective.

A deeply skilled groove machine, (Los Angeles Times) that displays a peerless brand of musical alchemy as easily cool and consoling as white hot and ascendant. (Relix) Tedeschi Trucks Band debuted big with its Grammy Award-winning Revelator, 2012s dynamic live follow up, Everybodys Talkin, and 2013s critically-acclaimed Made Up Mind bolstering the Jacksonville-based groups growing reputation as the preeminent blues-rock leader. With guitarist Derek Trucks departure from The Allman Brothers Band final at the end of 2014, the band has fully dedicated itself to expanding its legendary live performances and in January released its latest, LET ME GET BY, to rave reviews.

Like the groups other recordings, Let Me Get By benefits from a number of musical elements that have become TTB trademarks: their deep sense of American roots music: rock, blues, soul, and especially gospel; Their balance of easy-flowing song structures and soaring, improvisational sections; Tedeschis spiritually charged vocals, and Trucks wide range of guitar tones, slide and picked, from back-alley, distorted rawness to Indian sitar-like sinuousness.

During their five-year rise, the group toured incessantly, raising their profile and being handpicked to play with the likes of Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and Santana; to appear on television shows hosted by Jay Leno, Conan, and on the premiere of Stephen Colberts The Late Show; and hosting special all-star musical salutes themselves, including Bonnaroos Superjam in 2014 (with Chaka Khan, Anthony Hamilton, Taj Mahal, and others), and Lockn Festivals Tribute to Joe Cockers Mad Dogs & Englishmen in 2015 (with Leon Russell, Rita Coolidge, and many other original members, including Portland percussionist Bobbie Torres).+
