Notes from XAVEL:
In 2023, during their first Japan tour in four years, coinciding with the release of the quadruple project “I Am the Moon,” the band performed at Tokyo Dome City Hall on October 21st. This third day of the live performance was recorded in full using a multi-stereo IEM matrix.

The recording process involved professional editing with the familiar multi-IEM matrix source, utilizing the uncompressed multi-ear monitor sources used by the band members on stage. This time, the latest equipment was employed to mix multiple monitor sources with different mix balances into a stereo mix with exquisite composition and localization. Despite the large ensemble of 12 musicians, the result was comparable to a stereo soundboard recording.

As is typical for the band, known for their diverse daily setlists, this third day featured eight songs from the same album, with no repetition from the previous two performances. Over the first three performances of this Japan tour, a total of 55 songs, including covers, were played.

The covers performed on this day included “The Letter” (The Box Tops), “Everybody’s Got to Change Sometime” (Taj Mahal), “Keep On Growing” (Derek and the Dominos), “How Blue Can You Get?” (Johnny Moore), “Angel from Montgomery (Sugaree)” (John Primm/Jerry Garcia), and “Space Captain” (Matthew Moore), among many other unique selections
