No sound "improvements" have been done. This is as it came off the tape.

This was one of my earlier attempts at digitising the tape collection of an arch Television collector.
The tape was 2nd generation. About five or six years ago I circulated this recording to other Television collectors in a "restored" -ie hiss removed form. In addition, I also circulated a hiss removed version in MP3 format.
Any versions currently in circulation are almost certainly from my previous "restored" or MP3 versions.

What we have here is the original digitised version from the source tape. There has been no hiss reduction at all and no lossy conversion. At first, it does sound a little hissy, but remember it is nearly 30 years old.
To my jaded ears it sounds very fresh. Certainly nice and clear for an early CBGBs tape. This show has a fantastic setlist. For me the undisputed highlight is the unrecorded song "Let Me Out" on disc 1. A real shame this song isn't better known. "A song about Royalty - that is heartless and kind". This show also features Torn Curtain and Guiding Light - both songs very rare on existing recordings. Also an early Foxhole and I Don't Care (later renamed Careful). It is worth noting this show was recorded a year before their first album Marquee Moon was released.

I would have to say this is my favourite CBGBs Television show, because of the amazing setlist.
The picture included is a scan of the advert for this show that appeared in the Village Voice. Talking Heads were also on the bill that night, unfortunately I don't have any recording of their sets. I think this is quite a rare show, well worth downloading if you're a fan of the Marquee Moon album.
