AND, AGAIN, IT'S ANOTHER ONE in the series

"ONE OF THE BEST KEPT AMERICAN SECRETS..."

PLUS:

"desert-island concerts & artists" of my dad Leo & all my dear promoter-uncles:

TERRY LEE HALE

is another sadly underrated artist,

one of the best dobro & acoustic 6- and 12-string guitar players,

one of the best contemporary songwriters,

AND

AN ALWAYS NICE & FRIENDLY ARTIST WITH A FINE SENSE OF HUMOR...

AN AUDIOPHILE PERFECTIONIST - KNOWN ALSO FOR HIS (usually) EXCELLENT SOUNDING CONCERTS.

(O.K., there is this neighborhood legend of a couple livesound-engineers that crossed
themselves and started reaching for some garlic, silver bullets and wooden stakes just
AFTER TLH had left the building - but WHO cares, if the show sounded incommensurable ?)

it's a pleasure for me to give the floor to our dear friend

Peter W., famously Terry's best German friend & conveyor:

Hallo ,
(english see below)

Hello my friends,

many of you know Terry Lee Hale.
Today I want to make a little bit of promotion for his new album.

He is promoting and distributing the album by himself.
He has decided not to work with a label.
Thus the promotion is not so easy.
And therefore he needs some "by word of mouth" promotion or personal recommendations.

As I love his new album and
as I love Terry Lee Hale and
as I want to support his way of promotion ,
I herewith give the information to all my friends.

See below his comments and more information.
You can listen to the songs on his website.

I hope you enjoy the album as much as I do and I wish good sales to Terry Lee !!

HARD_to_HANDLE

Hello friends,

Marking a huge departure for this American singer-songwriter.
I am releasing my first instrumental only album, ‘Proof Of A Promise’.

Self-produced and recorded at my own Rue Voltaire studio just outside
Paris, France, ‘Proof Of A Promise’ features 10 original instrumental songs.
Recorded over 3 months early in 2010 this is my first full-length, self-recorded project.
The songs range in style from solo guitar work (i.e. Etude Bella, Matt Diamond Theme)
to the more heavily produced studio efforts (Cigarette Run, The Sable Venus).
Warm, cohesive, imaginative and fun, all of these songs highlight my acoustic guitar
and Dobro playing in a variety of settings and styles.

Mixed by long time friend and collaborator Chris Eckman and mastered by Denis Blackham,
the 6-panel digi-pak features a bold presentation with original photographs from French
photographer Franck Betermin and design by Norwegian graphic artist Håvard Gjelseth.

I'm also happy to announce that at long last our web store is online and open for business.
Right now it is CD and digital versions for Proof Of A Promise and Shotgun Pillowcase.
With multiple language, currency and payment options, the site is safe and easy to use.
Please take a look when you have time. And in the future I am planning to put online digital
albums of some of my earlier unreleased work as well as the rest of the TLH song catalogue.

Please stop back occasionally to check the latest offerings.

http://www.terryleehale.com/.

Tours are being planned for 2011 in Germany (March), Italy (April) and France (June).

And thanks again for your support.

Terry Lee Hale

ABOUT THIS CONCERT...
===============

It was the promotion tour for TLH's first solo record on 'Borderdreams Records', "Shotgun Pillowcase"
(February 2007) - his 10th solo album - 'Normal' in Bonn was the company for Terry Lee's first CD
"Oh What A World", followed then by a full decade as member of the famous 'Glitterhouse Records'
family, and this one-solo-record-stand at 'Blue Rose' (the company with them two "Hardpan" releases,
which not only includes TLH but also fellow songwriters Todd Thibaud, Chris Burroughs and Joseph Parsons).

TLH came along (please check in the additional folder the following picture: "on_the_ship_to_berlin")
with a larger rented ship ("the_rented_ship") directly via the, back then brandnew, river Seine - river
Spree canal, just with a bassplayer, the stunning & impeccable Nicolas "Fingerbones" Chelly, and a
maritime container filled with a hugh selection of his acoustic guitars and all sorts of equipment ;-)

This concert took place in a church with really outstanding room acoustic
- so it's quite often used for all kinds of concerts, sacral and mundane -
and this is what dbtr still remembers of this very memorable night:

...wie leider VIEL ZU OFT bei der Überfülle an Veranstaltungen täglich hier in
Berlin, hielt sich der "Besucherandrang" in schmalen Grenzen, schlappe 20 männekens
pilgerten in die Osterkirche (die leute dort sind richtig lieb, und es gibt - zur
freude der musiker - VIEL backstage-bier) - es war der tag vor der wahl von Sarkozy
aus der stadt der pariser. die aufnahme an diesem abend ist mir ganz gut gelungen...

Nicolas Paul Stéphane Sarközy de Nagy-Bocsa (born 28 January 1955) is
the 23rd and current President of the French Republic and ex officio
Co-Prince of Andorra. He assumed the office on 16 May 2007 after
defeating the Socialist Party candidate Ségolène Royal...

OLD SONGS, NEW SONGS AND 8 (!!) OF THEM COMPLETELY UNRELEASED (to my
knowledge...), AND TWO STUNNING MUSICIANS (please check this photo:
how to teach an "old_dog_new_tricks")...WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT ??

IN MY OPINION ANOTHER "MUST-HAVE" SHOW
(i know i write this ALL the time...),
but this time, again, i truly got wet pants...
not talking about the tears of PURE PLEASURE !!!

PLEASE NOTE:

THIS TORRENT INCLUDES COVERS ! Say "thank you" to dbtr !

THE SOUND HERE ?

It's a "down-by-the-river production" - 'NUFF SAID !

if you're still beset BY DOUBTS,
please check the samples...or better:

LEAVE IT, GRAB SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT !!

all others - thanks for trusting me/us:

CRANK UP YOUR STEREO & START SWINGING !

TERRY LEE HALE & FINGERBONES (the artists)

Osterkirche (the venue)
Berlin (the city)
Germany (the country)

May 04, 2007 (the date)

Berlin is the capital city of Germany, and is one of the sixteen states of Germany.
It has a population of 3.4 million people, and is Germany's largest city. It is the second
most populous city proper and the eighth most populous urban area in the European Union.
Located in northeastern Germany, it is the center of the Berlin-Brandenburg Metropolitan
Area, comprising 5 million people from over 190 nations. Geographically embedded in the
European Plains, Berlin is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. Around one third
of the city's territory is composed of forests, parks, gardens, rivers and lakes.
First documented in the 13th century, Berlin was successively the capital of the Kingdom
of Prussia (1701–1918), the German Empire (1871–1918), the Weimar Republic (1919–1933)
and the Third Reich (1933–1945). Berlin in the 1920s was the third largest municipality
in the world. After World War II, the city was divided; East Berlin became the capital
of East Germany while West Berlin became a de facto West German exclave, surrounded by
the Berlin Wall (1961–1989). Following German reunification in 1990, the city regained
its status as the capital of all Germany hosting 147 foreign embassies - and is today a
a world city of culture, politics, media, and science.

The evangelistic "Osterkirche" (Easter church) in Berlin-Wedding (District middle)
had been built in 1911 in the style of "Märkischer Ziegelkirchen" (brick churches in
the Mark Brandenburg) by the well known Berlin architects (especially for sacred buildings)
August Dinklage, Ernst Paulus and Olaf Lilloe (formerly "Arch. Grisebach und Dinklage").
It was 1953 completely and thoroughly renovated, today it's
also used as an more than regional known concert church.

dbtr originally splits between track 16 and 17 (concurrent to the included coverartwork backside)

Nicolas "Fingerbones" Chelly - bass

the recording & transfer:

PLEASE NOTE: DON'T ASK ABOUT MORE SPECIFIC DETAILS IN THIS SECTION HERE !
The taper and mixing engineer dbtr cannot remember the brand of cables he
had used during this tour - definitely them expensive ones with 24 carat
fully golden connectors and thick twisted pure silver wires - and he even
won't remember exactly all his particular handholds in the final mix here.

My dear buddy hanwaker usually always writes about "his" uploads
of other people's recordings: "Don't ask - I'm just the messenger !"

SO THERE'S NOTHING MORE TO ADD - TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT...

SBD > EDIROL R-1 > CF-Card > PC > WinOnCD 5 [tracking] > FLACfrontend [flac] > Server

and what lonetaper did (nearly nothing, as usual...):

Server > DSL Broadcom 161.136 - H30 > ADSL 2+ > Splitter > FRITZ!Box > LAN > "download" >
Motherboard with AMD Multicore Processor, Serial ATA Interface > FLAC files >
> right now: 1TB Western Digital Harddisc with Thermaltake HD Cooler (EVER had a HardDisc burnout ??) >
> Traders Little Helper (test encoded audio files, check audio for SBE, show audio file details) > DIME

# -> OUR DEAR FRIEND ALEXANDER NAILED THIS SHOW HERE...

-> so NO additional EQ'ing was used here, and none of those
compressors, Sonic Maximizers or other psychoacoustic processors.

original "dbtr" notes:

thanks to the Terry Lee for the friendly allowance to tape the show.
fades in/out only at begin/end of the show, rest is completely seamless.
Some minutes of audience noise during the intermission and the encores are cut out.

this is a pure SBD, so you won´t hear very much from the audience...
