Total Time ::: 34:04
::: Very fine remastered AUD. Check samples for peirastic, probatory, personal assessment or just to rev yr engines a couple o' times.
::: Warts: Quality changes between trax 2&3. Taper cut off deck between songs. Some dropouts weren't repairable & I surely missed some.
::: Santana was the headliner.
::: Although "Dean" cuts, "Dean (reprise) seems to be legitimate - that they start up the song for a 2nd round.
::: I can't figure out the first song title. Does anyone know?
::: Remaster uploaded with gracious permission of original uploader, DIMER Lucifer Burns. Now the Terry's more terrific.
Recording Information ::: Philips EL 3302 (2nd version) mono cassette recorder -> AGFA Fe master cassette, Dolby off.
Playback (date unknown) ::: AGFA Fe master mono cassette on Nakamichi 682 ZX Cassette Tape deck (normal eq/no noise reduction) -> Sony CDR-W66 Standalone CD Burner w/"super bitmapping on" -> CDR -> Plexwriter Premium II CD-Transport -> iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo with iTunes 9.2.1 into WAW -> DVDR -> WAV -> Trader's Little Helper -> FLAC -> DIME. (Judge Free recording, William Tell raw audio file transfer, "tonsofsobs" editing, luciferburns original uploader - "William Tell Edition 035").
CoolSonics Digital Remaster 2012-12-05 ::: luciferburns flacs -> Trader's Little Helper -> WAVs -> Audacity (details below) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded week of 2012-12-07.
Remastering details (done without equalisation):
- lowered ALL levels by -.5% to work on recording.
- speed correction applied (original way too slow. sped up 2.43% to match album keys/pitch with pitchpipe.
- channel offset correction.
- normalisation to remove dc offset only.
- number of pops & clicks removed, reduced or repaired.
- volume correction applied in many places places (it was quite erratic)
- many dropouts patched or volume fixed.
- fades fixed in a couple of places from abrupt stops & starts.
- few extreme peaks manually volume adjusted to raise overall volume a bit (NO loudness war or oversaturation!)
- channels balanced after volume corrections.
- retracked
NOTE: The recording was mono but had quite different things going on in the two channels. I would have kept both channels but the right one had a large portion of the show drop to nearly non-existent levels. So I corrected the volume difference & patched up the entire show for dropouts,etc, then deleted the right channel from this copy. I realise this inhibits further corrections from the other channel, but so it goes. From about 14 minutes on the recording changes quality significantly & the master was much tinnier recording as the bass drops way off (among other things). I've no idea what happened, but the taper changed microphones.
Line-up (unconfirmed) ::: Terry Reid - guitar, vocals // David Lindley - lap steel, slide & electric guitars, violin (track 3) // Lee Miles(?) - bass // Tim Davis(?) - drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
CoolSonics 202 remaster of William Tell Edition 035 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders, Judge Free for recording, his friend William Tell for providing the raw audio files, tonsofsobs for some original raw tape editing & Lucifer Burns for the original upload & permission to remaster the recording. ::: Corrections welcome ::: Well we certainly don't have enough live Terry Reid & almost nothing from what is perhaps his most important era, so I felt this recording was well worth working on. The raw tape was impossible to listen to, as one channel fluctuated & just about disappeared for over half the tape. Now, aside from the weird quality shift from tracks 3-6, the recording is very much evened out & is more than listenable, infact, great. To be honest, "C'mon Mary" seems a bit out of place in the set, if you leave it out when you listen, you still have more than a half hour of prime "River" bent era Terry. Enjoy!
