Dimer gentlen sent me some cassettes that have been lying on the shelf all those years.
He never made copies of the cassettes, so what we have here is a complete new, uncirculated show.
Recorded by gentlen in 1995, transferred by scdegraaf and edited by Fredtaper in Januray 1995.
Same as with the shoebox project and the Singer-songwriters marathons, Fred was instrumental bringing these shows to you.
The quality of the recording was remarkably good. Fred only had to adjust volumes. Gentlen stored them well.
Of the shows gentlen sent me this is my favourite show. I'm a huge fan of David Olney and Eric Taylor and I like Vince Bell.
I never was very fond on Iain Matthews, but his performance here is stunning and his backing vocals for the others are beautiful.
It was a discovery for me to hear Eric perform Gold Watch Blues.I've never heard him sing it before. Next time I'll see Eric I'll give
him a copy of this recording. His voice in 1995 was not yet as beautifully broken as it is now.
I knew David Rodriguez by name, but I didn't know his work. Nowadays David is more known as the father of Carrie Rodriguez, but he is a good
songwriter in his own right. His songs have been covered by people like Lyle Lovett.
His album Proud Heart is a classic and the European version is a collector's item. David has been living in the Netherlands
for a long time, hence track 6, a song in Dutch. He still lives here in a self-chosen exile.
