THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN - 1985-05-16 - Stockholm Living Room [AUD, low gen.]

The Jesus & Mary Chain
The Living Room,
Stockholm,
Sweden
16th May 1985
Audience recording, probably 1st generation (although may be a 2nd generation copy)

Not a particularly great sounding audience recording to me, unfortunately I have lost the exact recording equipment and taper details since I originally got this, but it was an extra filler part of the 2nd tape of the Echo & The Bunnymen 1985-04-30 audience recoding that I uploaded the other week (DIME torrent #490312). So I'm assuming that this was recorded by the same person(s), i.e. the trader that I got the Bunnymen tapes from. However, that Bunnymen one sounds miles better to me, this one has some of the same faults that other Jesus & Mary Chain audience recordings that I have from this same period suffer from, many of the faults probably more to due with PA problems than the original taper's fault: namely, the band's insistence on using substantial feedback throughout, which leads to loud "pops" occasionally on the PA when it gets too much, resulting in the volume of the pA afterwards being suddenly reduced - which leads in the end to a recording which kind of sounds, from an audience point of view, as if it has been subjected to "Automatic Recordic Level" (ALC) type anomalies, which I'm sure the original taper, or tapers, didn't intend to do themselves via their own equipment.

I have used some equalization on this using CoolEdit Pro 2.1, this consisted of using the "Quick Filter" option of standard treble boost + standard bass boost together in one go, because I thought it sounded almost unlistenable without at least the bass boost option.

But anyway, this is the first time I've digitized this one myself, and I'm fairly uncertain it hasn't been circulated on DIME or elsewhere before.
