TMBG's triumphant hometown return, their first show in Brooklyn in almost two years, before a rapturous crowd at the mammoth Kings Theatre. Two sets (the second starting off with a backwards video of the first set's performance of "Stellub," which is itself the song "Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love" played live backwards), two encores, highlighting songs from their 1994 album "John Henry." The rest of the setlist was crazily varied and extra-long, and featured both their horn section The Horns and an appearance by The Stick on "Lie Still, Little Bottle." (Google it for an explanation if you're not familiar.)
The restored Kings Theatre is unbelievably gorgeous but has notoriously muddy sound for amplified shows – between the card mics and some judicious EQ, I've gotten this to a pretty good place, considering. TMBG have a ton of shows scheduled for the U.S. South and West next year, go see them! https://tmbw.net/wiki/Shows
