No one in this whole world more than me would like to see Chuck back with the band, so please don't go there.

These guys are still touring??? Anyway, these fools are 65+ years old!

Between 35 and 40 years ago (1969-1974) they had 21 consecutive top 40 hits and 12 straight gold "LP's" (that is grandpa talk for cd's/downloads).

What a difference 40 years make! All the way from sold out Arenas in the early 70's to the 1500 seat (1799 with Standing Room Onlys) Rickman Auditorium in 2009. Well at least it was another sold out show.
Never been to the Rickman before and as my wife and I were outside in the parking lot I told her that I had decided that I was going to leave the cameras in the car and I was not going to try and videotape. Just go for the audio.
For a couple of reasons :unfamiliarity with the venue & standing room only tickets.
But, I really think the main reason was...I wanted to maintain the fantasy. As I looked around at the folks gathering to go into the show, I realized that a lot of these folks looked like they were in their 50's and 60's.
I'd seen a couple of youtube clips and knew the band members were all balding/silver-haired. So, I looked in the rear view mirror. Ka Pow!
Nope, I'd rather just listen to the music and pretend I'm young again instead of watching videos of old farts that "sounded" like the Dogs.

Walked in, SRO's were on the top level and you could lean on the mid-chest high wall. Security was lax and it would have been perfect for videotaping. OH well. No pat downs going in. Everybody was friendly. Thanking you for coming and telling you to enjoy the show. It was a high school auditorium. No beer or concessions. One Mens room, one ladies. Water fountains unless you walked by the table by the entrance where they were selling bottled water for $1.00 a bottle to raise money for the school activities. No smoking. (Who would have ever imagined that there would be no SMOKING of anything at all during a 3DN concert 35 yrs. ago)

There were very few youngsters in attendance. And the ones that did show up looked like they had been dragged in by their parents.
The crowd was surprisingly well behaved. I think most of us were in our own little world of bitter-sweet memories and for the most part we realized that we were in the presence of legends. Applause was enthusiastic but almost seemed respectful. The Zoom H2 handled it very well. If you download this show, you may have to turn it up a little but it sounds pretty good. To be honest with you, it probably sounds better than my old scratched out vinyl LP's.

There was only one song title I didn't quite get. They even announced it but I still can't make it out. If anyone knows it, please let me know. I listed it as "---Blues".
I also deleted about 5 minutes of deadness after the Intro Announcement and The Family of Man. You can't really tell. The whole show fits on one cdr.
With two exceptions, they pretty much sound like I used to remember them sounding.
Track #13 (the Blues one sounds great, but I didn't recognize it), and the "rap" portion of Mama Told Me Not to Come was hilarious!!!!

The did not play: Eli's Coming, The Show Must Go On, Try a Little Tenderness, Pieces of April, Brickyard Blues or their many other hits, but for most of us it was still a very enjoyable Saturday evening.
This show is not for sale. For trade only. I really don't expect alot of hits on this, but I'll let it go for a couple of days. So let me know if you like it already.
