More Huge Thanks to BigDee for the mastering.

Another one from the Christmas Past Archives, Again not circulated before . Tim is one of my favourite musicians. I also went to the following days show. One of the great musical characters and nice guys. At the end of this show I don't think anyone knew what was going on which is fairly typical of a Tim Edey gig.

If not familiar with the name of Tim Edey:
Tim Edey is brilliant in every which way. As a guitarist he has few peers. As a box player hes a magician. As a character hes off the scale Colin Irwin, fRoots

Utterly fantastic. Sheer, wonderful ebullient music Mike Harding Tim Edey plays a host of different instruments to a standard us mere mortals can only dream of. Listen and weep- Jim Byrne, The Living Tradition

Tim Edey was voted BBC Radio Twos Musician of the year 2012 (BBC R2 FOLK AWARDS) and Best duo with Brendan Power. Tim is a multi-instrumentalist and singer and has toured the world and recorded with most of the major names in Celtic/Contemporary roots music including; The Chieftains, Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon, Natalie MacMaster, Altan, Stocktons Wing, Capercaillie, Brendan Power, Michael McGoldrick, Seamus Begley, Dougie Maclean, The Barra MacNeills, JP Cormier, Shaun Davey, Session A9, Wolfstone, Lunasa, Vinnie Kilduff, Mary Black, Session A9, Julie Fowlis, Frankie Gavin to name but a few

Tim, now a name on the world stage in his own right after seventeen years of hard work, is rated by many to be one of the worlds finest ever Melodoen and Guitar players in the folk & contemporary scene today!

Originally from Broadstairs in Kent and of Irish descent, Tim honed his style learning from his father Richard a fine guitarist and listening to Ed Boyd, Steve Cooney and Django Reinhardt. He has lived in Ireland and now resides in Perthshire, Scotland where he is based with his family and tours all over the world regularly from.

Tims live solo shows are a stunning mix of world music inspired instrumental virtuosity and passion with a strong Celtic theme, to audience chorus lines and above all a highly entertaining night of musical genius.

My notes at the time:
Nice sound, very respectful audience, some coughers including me as I was really full of cold although I managed to restrain until the applause (classical concerts upbringing!). Sound levels from very quiet to very loud when switching from guitar to melodeon. Large poster falls down at start of second set (during The History Man). Last 15 minutes are obviously totally unrehearsed including a guy on dobro Tim hadn't actually met until he came on stage!!The chat during that is Tim on stage telling people what he was going to play (sometimes!)

It is very difficult to categorise Tim. He is quite unique. He is incredibly talented on Guitar and Melodeon (and many other instruments!)- he often switches between Box and Guitar during one tune. I think there was a vague plan for the show tonight but as most Tim shows it was very fluid and flexible. Many tunes starte as one thing but like Tims mind wander to something else altogether. Peter is a superb Jazz Guitarist who is talented enought to just "go with the flow". I sometimes doubt that even Tim knows what he is playing once he has started. Many musicians in the audience were shaking their heads in disbelief!!! Steve Tilston was once heard to comment that whatever Tim was on , he wanted some!!!
The music from The Parting Glass onwards was not previously rehearsed
