Playing the Fillmore to an audience of hippies waiting to see HP Lovecraft should have been a challenge to Tiny Tim but he could win any audience over with his otherwordly and quasi-messianic charms, not to mention his high pitched voice and ukelele.
Speaking of his ukelele it's very prominent on here which is nice - nicer still is the fact he's bothered to tune it! Tiny's backed by The Holy Mackeral who worked with him on his debut album, but without a big orchestra behind him the songs take on a much more stripped-back format. He even acts out "The Viper" live on stage, this time with a bit of ukelele accompaniment.
Other oddities include "Animal Crackers" originally sang by Shirley Temple, and The Penguins' "Earth Angel" - we finally get to hear some Tiny doo-wop falsetto! A very short album (little over twenty minutes) but a document of a great entertainer at the top of his game. Essential for fans.
