Notes:
Someone has shared Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock's performance at this festival on DIME years ago, and I think it's about time I shared Tom Paxton's set as well. It's definitely not from a 1st gen tape, but the sound quality is still good. However, this might not be the entire set, as the tape ran out before the last song finish.
Tom wrote the song "Phil" as a lament for his friend Phil Ochs, who hanged himself on April 9th, 1976, after years of fighting bipolar disorder. The song was first performed at the festival in 1977.
For mp3 samples from this show and a bunch of other Tom Paxton shows, please visit my Tom Paxton setlist page at http://ddpro.ucoz.com/setlists/tompaxton/. The setlists of all Tom Paxton live recordings I know will all be posted there, along with a 90-second sample for each recording.
If you want to have the lyrics and chords to these songs, I also have a webpage at http://ddpro.ucoz.com/tpchords/.
Tom's new album, Redemption Road, just came out last year. If you're not so familiar with Tom's music, you can download 15 of his old albums (for free!!!) on his official website: http://www.tompaxton.com/store/. I've never heard of any other artist who would do that. Still, I suggest that you buy the albums - support the artist!!
Do not sell this recording.
Enjoy and feel free to share it anywhere.
Support the artists by purchasing their official releases and going to their live shows.
