TOM PETTY
PALLADIUM, NYC
JULY 14, 1978
Here's another of my Petty shows that I taped in the NYC area when Petty was playing smaller venues. The sound is pretty good considering the age of the tape (and of the taper, LOL). The first song is a bit distant on the vocals, but it gets better quickly. This is my original recording so it has never been uploaded anywhere before to my knowledge. Direct from my basement to your ears.
Before I go any further, I have to point out that Ken, from HITWITSTUFF2, made this possible. If you are not familiar with the whole Hitwitstuff2 MOOSETRACKS collection story, then hop on over to his page and read all about it. I responded to his queries and Ken and I hit it off. I ended up sending some of my original tapes for him to transfer to CD and for me to upload for your listening pleasure. Without him, none of this would be possible. He did about 10 shows for me to upload here over the next few weeks. These have been in my basement, gathering dust, for the last
33 years or so. What will be posted here, are my original tapes. So stay tuned. You will see some amazing stuff showing up here over the next little while.Back in the day, I was very active taping shows and trading around the country and over in Europe.
If you enjoyed my last Petty Palladium (November 11, 1979) show, you will like this. This recording was done when Petty and the Heartbreakers were just hitting stride. The songs are fresh and raw. The venue was intimate with the Palladium being an old movie theater and the sound was great.

Ken says no EQ'ing was done to this tape. I invite anyone out there, to improve the sound and repost it. Share it freely and enjoy it. Remember that it was HITWITSTUFF2 that got the job done and say thanks to him.
I do have an improved version of the previous Petty Palladium show that I will upload soon. Sooner or later, I'll get to it all.
