Notes:
Acquired master tape from the JEMS archives. Decent early performance of an up and coming Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers here. The crowd is polite but almost indifferent to them for this performance and that is not suprising considering the opener Cheap Trick played a set that they could just not compete with or follow up on.
Listening to both sets it is amazing how an opener can take a crowd that is not theirs and basically turn them against the main act with a killer performance. That my friends is why we go to concerts to experience stuff like that firsthand and be part of something special. it is a high that musicians and fans alike chase.
The Cheap Trick set(highly recommended) is available here
