The capture of Petty's San Antonio stop on the 1985 'Southern Accents' tour took a lot of work to correct the many flaws in the source recording. It was captured on what sounds to be a fairly low fi handheld recorder very close to the stage chocked with a quite a bit of audience noise.

After adjusting the show to the correct speed (running fast in it's original form) and running it through the normal mastering channel ops, de-clicking, leveling, removing DC offset, the first major challenge was taming the numerous instances of high end distortion resulting from the low fi recorder and the proximity to the stage. In this case Izotope did a respectable job cutting the distortion to what I'd consider a listenable level. It didn't remove every instance as there was some severe clipping but it tamed the majority of instances to the point you should be able to comfortably listen through without too much annoyance.

Next was removing 50+ instances of whistles and yelling near the taper, this was Petty's first appearance in San Antonio and the locals were quite enthusiastic throughout the entire show.
Lastly, a bit of subtle eq work was done to help pull down some of the harshness in the higher frequencies.

Overall quality is good, IF it was captured using higher end gear it would have been exceptional. This is unknown generation, I wouldn't say it is high but is doubtful it is a 1st or 2nd generation based on the underlying tape noise.

The show itself is standard fare for the 1985 tour, I taped the Norman, OK show a few nights before and I believe it's the exact same set. There is apparently some issues during the show with the stage lights not staying on based on Petty's comments.

There is an un-mastered version posted at another torrent site that came from the same trader, same generation if you prefer a pre-mastered version. I only mention it so there is no confusion that this one is the same source, coming from the same trader but I've done the above mentioned work on this one and I was already working on it so here it is with many warts removed.
