Comments:
Tom Petty's semi-regular Milwaukee Summerfest show. Setlist is consistent with the last few tours, with four new songs sprinkled in the middle of the set. Perhaps I have seen him too many times (15, I think), but I thought this show was somewhat lacking in energy and creativity .... the Summerfest faithful ate it up, though. If you're interested in hearing the new material, this show is a good place to start.
Quality-wise, the recording is decent but not great. I was too close to catch the full sound from the overhead PA; the high end and vocals are a little too low in the mix, but this is certainly listenable. Crowd around me was surprisingly attentive and respectful for a Summerfest show on a Friday night ... there is some talking here and there by nearby crowd members, but nothing that overpowered the music. I think the talking behind me didn't get picked up by my mics, and there were only two people (not talking) between me and the stage.
If you only want one show from this tour, this one probably isn't it; if you're a reasonably big TP&TH fan, though, it's probably worth the download. Mp3 samples are included in the comments.
