So after a 13 year gap Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers finally come back to the country that made them famous.
A mad scramble for tickets for the original date of June 20th meant that a second show was almost inevitable, and this is my recording of the additional night (the second show will be following soon).
I managed to get great seats in the Grand Tier boxes which gave an uninterrupted view of the stage and apart from the angle, perfect for taping.
There was a great deal of interest in the support act, Jonathan Wilson, but I have to admit that to me he's a cure for insomnia and I left for a breath of air and a smoke.
When TP&TH hit the stage the place erupted, to the extent that they appeared a little shocked at the reaction.
As usual The Great Mike Campbell stole the show, and equally as usual Petty went through his banal between songs banter.
I've not seen them for about 6 years, but the whole thing was almost word for word what I heard last time. Oh well, the poor lad is getting on a bit now.


All in all this was a very good show, but completely predictable to even the most casual of fans. Only my opinion of course, and I hope many people will enjoy this recording.
