Too Slim & The Taildraggers
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 4, 2013
Again this year recorded from KBOO FM 90.7 here in Portland. A volunteer radio station that has broadcast the festival each and every year. It has become a huge festival & we stopped going due to the big crowds. I now record all that I can & enjoy sharing with you all. As with any all volunteer station there are a few blurps along the way, which I have "fixed" as well as I can. Enjoy, twofthrs

If Tim Too Slim Langford only played slide guitar, he would slither around most other blues guitarists and take a ferocious bite out of their pride. But as the sole six-string slinger, songwriter and lead vocalist of the power trio Too Slim and the Taildraggers, Langford is a force of nature leaving musical tracks others try to follow.
Those tracks last fall led the Spokane native to Nashville, where Langford has been hanging and working with the big dogs. Langford headed into the studio to record a new album with Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, BB King, Joe Louis Walker, George Thorogood, Susan Tedeschi...) on drums; bassist Tommy MacDonald, guitarist Rob McNelly, and organist Reese Wynan, all of late from Delbert McClintons Band; and Jimmy Hall, former frontman for Wet Willie, on harmonica and vocals. The album, Blue Heart, is due for release in June.
Langford hits the road, and returns to Waterfront, backed by the veteran Nashville rhythm section of bassist Scott Esbeck (Stone River Boys, Los Straitjackets) and drummer Jeff Shakey Fowlkes (Kid Rock, Robert Bradleys Blackwater Surprise), creating an eclectic style of blues and rock that is not easily be classified or pigeonholed. Too Slim and the Taildraggers effortlessly cross genres, flavoring blues with rock and rock with funk, appeal to audiences of varying musical tastes.
Langford has won multiple individual awards for Best Guitarist, Best Slide Guitarist, and Best Songwriter and the band are in the Hall of Fame in three Northwest blues societies. The bands most recent recording, Shiver, was a 2012 Blues Music Award nominee for Blues Rock Recording of the Year.
