My Sorrow When She's Here With Me
A compilation of my favourite Townes Van Zandt songs

For a long time I wanted to make a compilation of my favourite Townes Van Zandt songs.
When I made the list it came as no surprise they were his darkest songs: I've always loved dark, sad songs.
I guess many compilations already exist. My intention was not to make this the ultimate one, but to make it a very personal one.
If other members love it as well, all the better, but be warned: don't play it when you're down.

I named this compilation after the opening line of "My November Guest", a poem by Robert Frost.
I first heard this poem when I was 12 yeard old and it made a deep impression on me.
When I became acquinted with Townes'music many, many tears later, I learned Robert Frost was his favourite poet.
Coincidence?

All tracks come from my own collection of live shows. In order to make it sound as a whole I retricted myself to roughly the same period.
Where I had a choise I selected the best version,so the greater part are soundboard recordings.

To the best of my knowledge none of these versions have been commercially released, nor are any of the venues on the NAV-list.

Technically what I did was: extraction with EAC, some trimming with CDWave (I have deleted tuning and talk that has nothing to do with the songs),
fade in, fade out and volume adjustments to make the transitions as smooth as possible.
