Source: WWOZ 90.7-FM broadcast > RadioShark v2.0.2 > Macintosh MacMini (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > aiff > Quicktime 7.6.3 (convert aiff to wav) > wav > flac v1.2.1 (linux command line; level 8 compression) > flac file
Transfer: flac file (transferred by ftp from remote pc) > MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 (convert to aiff) > aiff > Bias Peak Pro 6.2.0.21692 (trimmed, normalized by 5.9 db, split into songs) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 (sector boundaries repaired; level 8 compression) > flac
Notes: A slight fade was applied at the end of Track 7 and 1/4-second of silence added prior to the encore, Track 8. About 3-1/2 minutes of inane talking over the live music by DJs was removed between the two tracks (though preserved as Track 7B).
There were a few dropouts and numerous glitches in the recording that were inherent in the FM broadcast AND the online mp3 stream. The glitches seem to be related to the station's use of a computer for recording or processing that seems to get overwhelmed or overloaded, possibly from an overloaded processor, a too-slow hard-drive or a fragmented drive. The glitches sound sort of like a single note repeating itself over the space of a fraction of a second. The issues have plagued WWOZ's live broadcasts for years.
Two dropouts were removed: an .8-second dropout at 4:00 into Track 5 and a 1-second dropout at 5:05 into the same track.
