The Tubes - Unreleased Studio Recordings 1988

Lineage:
Cavum Soni Studio> Studio Sound Recording > Cassette > Amadeus II > AIFF

Sound Quality: Very Good

This material was recorded by the Tubes in 1988, during the absence of Fee Waybill, who had left the band to pursue a solo career, including acting and working with other artists. He was replaced in the band by David Killingsworth, an old friend of the group with a style distinctively different than the stylings of Waybill.
David Killingsworth presented a Jim Morrison - esque persona, and never aspired to the stage antics that made the Tubes, and Fee Waybill famous, presenting instead a more stoic presence.

During this time, Kenny Ortega, erstwhile choreographer for the Tubes, was working on the movie 'Dirty Dancing'. At the time, indications were that the Tubes would be involved in this project, through their association with Ortega, and the group began creating a group of songs with the movie in mind. Their participation in the movie never came to pass, but those songs remain. (No Baby & Love Dust).

Included here are other songs from the period, as well as a great studio version of the Tubes concert classic, "Rock and Roll Hospital" as well as the whacky "Hoods From Outer Space" which is the version they performed at the time, totally unlike the version later released.

"Holy War" is a reggae version of the original, never released on the "Suffer For Sound" album, and is a very timely song considering it was originally written in 1979.

I dedicate the posting of these gems to a beloved friend, Vince Welnick, who left us much too soon... RIP Brother.
