Ty Curtis Band
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 3, 2008

Recorded from KBOO FM. An all volunteer radio station in Portland. FM>HD>FLAC>Dime or at times FM>H2 ZOOM>HD>FLAC>Dime. As always there are some bumps in the road, but nothing that would stop me from down loading these shows. I've tried to fix all the drops and pauses in the music. Enjoy the festival, twofthrs

Perhaps the late great Paul Delay said it best about Ty Curtis: “He plays it like a young man should—straight ahead and from the heart.”

Northwest blues fans agree, filling the dance floors at Mac’s, Lefty’s, Rogue Brewery, the Oregon Garden, Roadhouse 101, and Chinook Winds Casino as well as an on-air performance for KMHD radio in Portland. In September ‘06 they opened for Curtis Salgado and in October for Paul DeLay.

In July 2007, the band made their debut at the Waterfront Blues Festival earning a standing ovation from the crowd. The summer of 2007 also included bookings at Corvallis’ DaVinci Days, the Eugene Celebration, Silverton Art Fair, Bones & Brews, KMHD’s Summer Bash and the Oregon State Fair.

Meanwhile, the band’s CD, Stubborn Mind, has been receiving air play on KRVM, KLCC, KBOO, KMHD and KINK. The CD was recently selected to represent the Cascade Blues Association in the Blues Foundation’s Best Self Produced CD competition. Not a bad start for a young band.

As Greg Johnson, president of the Cascade Blues Association, said, “If you don’t know the name Ty Curtis now, remember it. I definitely foresee success in this band’s future.”

TY CURTIS, guitar, vocals, songwriter
Ty plays with a feel surprising for someone his age. As Steve Spoulos of KRVM put it, “Ty Curtis... this man can write and sing a song!”

DAVIS BROWN
drums. Davis can play everything from hard rock to slow blues…but he is always in the groove.

JIM SMITH, bass
Always in the pocket, Jim plays with style and finesse. Whether it’s a cover tune or an original, he always nails the bottom.

HANK SHREVE, harmonica, vocals
Winner of the Northwest Harmonica Championship, and a fine singer…not bad for a guy who just turned 19.
