Ty Curtis Band w/Terry Robb
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 7, 2013
Again this year recorded from KBOO FM 90.7 here in Portland. A volunteer radio station that has broadcast the festival each and every year. It has become a huge festival & we stopped going due to the big crowds. I now record all that I can & enjoy sharing with you all. As with any all volunteer station there are a few blurps along the way, which I have "fixed" as well as I can. Enjoy, twofthrs

Over the years BluesWax Contributing Editor Bob Gersztyn has been following the early career of Salem, Oregons blues prodigy, Ty Curtis. He has had the opportunity to witness early performances of some of the most successful musical artists in blues, gospel, rock, and soul. The list includes names like Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Steve Miller to name some.
To say that Curtis blew away the crowd with his performance would be an understatement. As he roars through his sets with prowess and finess, Ty Curtis continues to evolve and produce muscular hard-edged blues/rock, in the tradition of singer-songwriter/guitarists like Mike Bloomfield, Steve Miller, Eric Clapton, Albert Collins, and Alvin Lee, to name some. Over the years the Ty Curtis Band, like that of many solo artists, has changed members. The current lineup is made up of Curtis on lead guitar and vocals, drummer Jerry Jacques, bass player Dave Kahl, and keyboardist Alex Shakeri (Insomniacs).
The band has opened for George Thorogood, Doobie Brothers, Robin Trower, Lukas Nelson and The Promise of The Real, Little River Band, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Los Lonely Boys, and other mainstage acts Walter Trout, Chris Cain, Coco Montoya, Roy Rogers, Curtis Salgado, and Paul Delay.
