Review by Brian Murphy:
I picked up this CD on the weekend. --- Absolutely amazing. It was recorded in 1988 from concerts with the Chieftains in Ireland and contains most of the stuff from Irish Heartbeat. [It contains a] version of "Moondance" - as an *IRISH JIG*. Yes that's right. I couldn't believe it. It sounded just like an ordinary jig until I heard the words. I didn't think that he could still find anything new in the song, the way he plays it in concert recently, but this just blew me away. Also a version of "Send In the Clowns" in which he actually sings it for real, no clowning around, no long pauses, no nothing. Just Van singing a great song as if he means it. (This track is not from the Chieftains concert, but comes from Ronnie Scott's club in 1986)
