This is another VU item I've worked on. The mixing process I use (a long and painstaking one in Audacity that I arrived at through trial and error), widens the sound, little else, but I for me I find this sort of tweak much more listenable.
In particular on track 2, Sister Ray - Murder Mystery - Sister Ray, the separation sounds very
convincing (listen in headphones!). For the record, personally I much prefer that to the interesting but wandering "Sweet Sister Ray" (is that what The Grateful Dead were like live? I'm not in a hurry to find out :)).
Likewise, The Story of My Life sounds very clear here too, as the sample will show. Samples attached below to show before and after mixing this - after / before / after.
If you don't approve of "remastering" / remixing, whichever label you attach , give this a miss. Otherwise, if you like the way this sounds, please give some feedback. (I don't like the term 'remaster',,,a 'bs' term that basically means a minor remix...which is what I've attempted here).
Enjoy
Thanks to all those involved in the playing, recording and sharing of this!
